LMP2 racer Nicolas Lapierre has become a shareholder of RACING SPIRIT OF LÉMAN, the parent company behind FIA WEC squad Cool Racing.

Lapierre, who holds an LMP2 unbeaten streak in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, joined the team in 2019 and took its first WEC win at the 4 Hours of Silverstone in September. He has now been integrated into the team’s management ‘for the development of racing activities, daily liaisons with drivers, as well as commercial pursuits.’

Cool Racing is set to return to the WEC when the championship resumes with the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in August. The team will also compete in the European Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup.

“I’m very excited about becoming a shareholder at RACING SPIRIT OF LÉMAN,” said Lapierre. “I’ve enjoyed driving for COOL Racing and working with the team and I can’t wait to get more involved, liaising with drivers as well as our existing and new commercial partners.”

“We have very much enjoyed working with Nicolas since he joined COOL Racing at the beginning of 2019,” added Patrick Barbier, managing director. “His input as a driver has been invaluable, but now we will benefit even further from his knowledge and experience for the development of our structure.

We’ve enjoyed a very strong start to COOL Racing’s inaugural campaign in the WEC and with the season relaunching soon we hope we can continue with that same momentum in all our racing programmes.”

The team has also unveiled an updated livery for its 2020 campaign, which made its debut at last month’s 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual.
