FIA allows D’Ambrosio to race on Sunday

The FIA has allowed Virgin’s Jerome d’Ambrosio to start the Canadian Grand Prix, despite him qualifying over four-tenths slower than the allowed time.

The re-introduced 107% regulation for this season states that any car over that time, in this case 1:18.990, cannot start the race, unless given dispensation by the FIA.

D’Ambrosio will be allowed to compete on Sunday after starting FP3 and qualifying with a new chassis, thanks to an earlier accident during second practice.

He will start 24th, behind the HRT of Narain Karthikeyan, who qualified almost a second ahead of the Belgian.
