Red Bull team principal Christian Horner believes the strategies we’ll see in Monaco will be fascinating, especially as overtaking is near impossible in Monaco.
The Milton Keynes based outfit adopted a very ‘aggressive’ strategy in Barcelona which saw Sebastian Vettel come from second on the grid to take the win – the first driver to take victory in Barcelona from a position other than pole for a decade.
“We were really aggressive in Barcelona, which relied on Sebastian making passes which were tough, but not impossible,” Horner said.
However, that may not be the case in Monte Carlo where overtaking is extremely difficult thanks to the characteristics of the circuit, whereby the tracks width barely exceeds two cars.
“It was a bold decision and it paid off,” added the Brit. “The question is: are you going to have the bravery to do that in Monaco where generally overtaking is impossible?
“I’m not sure that would work in Monaco. Quite simply I don’t think we will be able to drive past someone like Jenson as we did yesterday.
“So it’s going to be fascinating to see how teams apply strategy to the race, as well as see how they manage the tyres.”
