The aim is to finish tenth says Hispania owner

Hispania team owner Jose Ramon Carabante says his outfits aim is to finish tenth this season, despite trying times in 2010 and at the beginning of this year.

A rush to get the car built in time for the Australian GP saw both drivers fail to make the 107% cut, though that hasn’t been an issue since.

Carabante admitted it was a difficult rookie season in F1, but the team is working to improve the car, which the Spaniard believes is evident.

“We have overcome a difficult first year and I think the evolution of the team is clear for everyone to see, the strategy is clear, the team is consolidated and we are working every day to improve each and every area in order to be as competitive as possible,” he told SportsPro.

“We knew from the beginning that entering Formula One was an ambitious risk and a difficult task. Effectively it has been such but we’ve proven that we’re prepared to take it on.”

Despite lying last in the constructors’ championship, Carabante remains set on securing tenth place, though such a target would mean jumping ahead of Virgin and Williams – who currently accommodate tenth position after a poor start to the year.

“In our second season we’re looking to show people the Hispania Racing project and prove that it’s an ambitious and attractive one,” he added. “In sporting terms, we’re looking to finish in tenth place in the Constructors Championship and are working hard to achieve this.”
