Max Mosley, former FIA president, has lost his European Court of Human Rights battle to tighten privacy laws in the United Kingdom.
The case came about following a published report in the News of the World which revealed Mosley paid for five women to take part in a sado-masochistic orgy.
He won the libel battle against the newspaper and was awarded £60,000 in damages for a breach into his private life.
The European Court though has decided it isn’t necessary for journalists and the media to give prior warning to celebrities before they reveal personal information.
Mosley said he was disappointed by the decision, but it was he had to respect.
“[I’m] obviously disappointed, but it’s satisfying that they’ve been extremely critical of the News of the World,” the BBC quote him as saying.
“I think they’ve underestimated the danger from the UK tabloids but obviously they’re the judges and one has to respect their decision.”
