Drivers from Formula 1’s feeder championships will compete in a newly-formed Esports series, which will begin on Sunday.

Formula 2 and Formula 3 has yet to begin its 2020 campaign and a date has yet to be determined for its opening round.

The maiden event will take place at 15:00 UTC on Sunday and utilise the F2 cars that are available on the F1 2019 platform.

A 30-minute Feature Race will be followed by a five-lap Sprint Race, with the top eight finishes reversed on the grid, with original season-opener Bahrain to be used as the location.

Further events are planned for the coming weeks in Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Baku.

Car set-ups will be fixed, driver aids will be permitted while damage will be off.

F2 race winners Antonio Fuoco and Norman Nato will compete for Carlin while ART Grand Prix will run its 2020 drivers Christian Lundgaard and Theo Pourchaire.

Oliver Rowland returns to DAMS, having raced for the team in 2017, where he will be joined by F3 debutant Calan Williams.

UNI-Virtuosi will be represented by incumbent Callum Ilott and last year’s representative Luca Ghiotto, while Prema will run Frederik Vesti and Arthur Leclerc.

Charouz past and present Juan Manuel Correa and Louis Deletraz will drive for the team while Jack Aitken will represent Campos, alongside Red Bull protégé Liam Lawson.

MP Motorsport will be the only team to run its intended 2020 Formula 2 line-up – Nobuharu Matsushita and Felipe Drugovich – while Formula 3 racers Olli Caldwell and Lirim Zendeli will compete in Trident colours.

Formula 3 rookie Jack Doohan will be HWA Racelab’s sole representative as Car #19 is reserved in memory of Anthoine Hubert.

The event will be streamed live on Youtube and Twitch.
