Kovalainen delighted with life at Team Lotus

Heikki Kovalainen remains content with life at Team Lotus, saying he is committed to the Anglo-Malaysian outfit which entered its second season this year.

The Finnish driver joined the team last year after spending two years with McLaren, gaining his first and only win, before that he drove for Renault partnering Fernando Alonso.

When McLaren ended Kovalainen’s contract, replacing him with Jenson Button, the 29-year-old looked unlikely to be on the grid until a seat at the then named Lotus Racing became available.

Kovalainen now believes his career is on the up, denying he is even thinking about leaving the team he now calls home.

“I feel that my career is back on the up” he Turun Sanomat. “I’ve consolidated my position after what happened at McLaren and my feeling is very positive now.

“I have not looked elsewhere, I like it with this team. I am not thinking about anything else, not even in a non-serious way. We are right on track with what we have had to do and where we are going, so why would I have to go somewhere else?

“But the truth is that I am quite happy, it really was not a bad idea to come to this team.”
