The organisers of the inaugural Indian Grand Prix on the outskirts of New Delhi have decided upon a name for the track which, up until now, had been known as the Jaypee International Circuit.
The purpose built facility will officially be named the ‘Buddh International Circuit’ as the managing director of Jaypee Sports International, Sameer Gaur explains.
“It is from the word Buddha to mean peace and calmness,” he told The Star. “It is also not about one person, but an entire region working with one another.”
The 125,000 capacity track is expected to be completed in August just before it’s set to stage the first Indian GP on October 30th, though some concerns have been raised about the date with the first layer of tarmac having only been laid recently.
