Hispania team principal Colin Kolles doesn’t believe the 107% qualifying rule will be an issue in Malaysia.
This comment follows the teams failure to qualify for the season opening Australian Grand Prix after they managed only a handful of laps in all three practice sessions.
The aim in Malaysia is to get as many laps on the board as is possible in order to evaluate a new performance package introduced this coming weekend, which the team believe will see them take part in the race.
“The expectations for Malaysia are to get back to normality,” said Kolles. “We know that the car has potential and we hope that we will be able to get all updates on the cars.
“The 107% should not be an issue under normal circumstances,” he added.
“The target is to do as many laps as possible in free practice in order to prepare for the qualifying session and for the race.”
