Red Bull will run KERS in Malaysia

Red Bull are set to be even quicker in Malaysia as team-boss, Christian Horner, says that they are aiming to incorporate the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) into their car.

The device, said to be worth around three-tenths per lap, didn’t work for the Milton Keynes-based squad during the Friday practices and was removed from the car before Qualifying on Saturday – the team then went on to secure Pole position and the win without the device.

“We will run KERS in Malaysia,” Christian Horner told The Guardian newspaper.

“It was a very marginal decision not to run it (in Australia).  In Malaysia there is a long run to the first turn and we are keen to get it on the car there.”

Red Bull driver and reigning World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, has mixed views on the device saying that although KERS is a “fundamental tool” this year with it being worth so much time, the system is “expensive, complicated and not green.”
