Magnussen and Rockenfeller to drive for Corvette at COTA

Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller will be driving the #63 Corvette C8.R at the Lone Star Le Mans round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Circuit of the Americas.

The pair, which both officially ended their association with the American manufacturer at the end of last year, are shown as drivers for the one-off entry in the GTE Pro class for later this month. They join championship regulars Aston Martin, Porsche and Ferrari, who field unchanged line-ups.

Corvette itself is yet to officially confirm the line-up. Magnussen left Corvette as a full time driver after the conclusion of the 2019 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship, bringing a 16-year partnership to an end. He most recently tested an ORECA 07-Gibson for High Class Racing at the Rookie test following the Bapco 8 Hours of Bahrain ahead of a possible Le Mans campaign with the Danish outfit.

Rockenfeller, meanwhile, left Corvette after his seat as the endurance driver alongside Antonio Garcia and new partner Jordan Taylor was filled by Dutchman Nicky Catsburg.

This came about because the German’s DTM duties with Audi directly clashed with the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the Anderstorp round of the 2020 DTM season falls on the same weekend, preventing the German from taking part in the French endurance classic, which he won with Audi in 2010.
