Aston Martin has announced the signing of Alex Riberas as the marque’s first AMR North America driver.

Riberas forms part of the line-up for the #23 Heart of Racing crew alongside Ian James, Roman de Angelis and Aston Martin factory driver Nicki Thiim.

The Spaniard spent 2016 racing for The Heart of Racing’s Porsche outfit in IMSA before transitiong into a role with Audi, finishing second for Team WRT in what was then known as the Blancpain GT Sprint series alongside Christopher Mies in 2018. Riberas also competed for Audi in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and 24 Hours of Spa Francorchamps.

“I am extremely excited about joining Aston Martin, one of the strongest organisations in endurance racing,” Riberas said. “I have had a glimpse of their professionalism and their ambition to achieve great results, so to be a part of such an effort is definitely a dream come true.

During the 2020 season my main focus will be in IMSA, where I will have the honour to represent AMR in their comeback year in the series.

With the latest Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and the new AMR partner, Heart of Racing, we have everything we need to compete at the front of one of the most competitive fields in GT3 racing. The Rolex 24 simply cannot come soon enough.”

Riberas will be teaming up with De Angelis for full-season campaign in the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3, with James joining for the season’s endurance rounds.
