Jarvis leads Mazda 1-2 in night session as second Roar day ends

Oliver Jarvis has concluded a strong second day of running for Mazda Team Joest at the Roar Before the 24 by going fastest in the weekend’s fifth practice session under the lights at the Daytona International Speedway.

The Briton set a time of 01:34:753 in the #77 Mazda RT24-P ahead of team-mate Ryan Hunter-Reay in the #55 Mazda, with Scott Dixon third in the #10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-VR. Ricky Taylor put the #7 Team Penske Acura ARX-05 fourth, with the #85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-VR of Matheus Leist completing the top five in class.

Harrison Newey led the way for Dragonspeed in the #81 ORECA 07-Gibson in LMP2, posting a time of 01:37:372 ahead of Nicolas Lapierre in the #8 Tower Motorsport by Starworks ORECA.

Third place went to PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports’ Simon Trummer in the #52 ORECA, with the class rounded out by Nicolas Minassian in the #18 Era Motorsport ORECA and the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports of Robert Masson as Rick Ware Racing’s Multimatic/Riley-Gibson did not complete any laps in the hour-long session.

Porsche ended the Saturday with a one-two as Laurens Vanthoor’s time of 01:43:513 in the #912 Porsche 911 RSR-19 was exactly 0.080s clear of the #911 of team-mate Fred Makowiecki. Daniel Serra posted the third time in class in the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE. Jordan Taylor was fourth in the #3 Corvette C8.R, ahead of Jesse Krohn’s #24 BMW M8 GTE, the #4 Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Colton Herta in the #25 BMW M8 GTE.

Defending race winners Grasser Racing were quickest in GTD, as Franck Perera posted a time of 01:46:713 in the #11 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo to lead an all-Lamborghini top three. Marco Mapelli was second in the #44 GRT Magnus entry, while Corey Lewis was third for Precision Performance Motorsports.
