Frankie Montecalvo and Ben Keating have set the quickest times in GTD and LMP2 qualifying respectively at the Roar Before the 24.

The qualifying session at the three-day test ahead of the Rolex 24 at Daytona is not to determine grid positions, but rather to determine garages and pitlane boxes for the race.

Frankie Montecalvo set the quickest time in the first session, exclusive to GTD competitors. The #12 Lexus RC F GT3 set a time of 01:46:754 to narrowly beat out the #86 Meyer Shank Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo of Matt McMurry by just 0.119s.

Robby Foley was third in the #96 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 GT3, with Brandon Gdovic fourth in the #47 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo. Trent Hindman rounded out the top five in the #57 Heinricher Racing Acura NSX GT3 Evo.

In LMP2, Ben Keating completed an impressive feat of double duty to go quickest for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports. The Texan jumped behind the wheel of the #52 ORECA 07-Gibson mere minutes after completing the GTD session with Riley Motorsports to dominate proceedings in LMP2.

His time of 01:38:056 was well over six-tenths quicker than Kyle Masson in the #38 Performance Tech Motorsports ORECA 07-Gibson. Henrik Hedman came third in the #82 Dragonspeed ORECA, ahead of Tower Motorsports by Starworks’ John Farano and Dwight Merriman’s #18 Era Motorsport machine.

Three cars did not run during the session. The #98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT3, the #51 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA and Rick Ware Racing’s #2 Multimatic/Riley-Gibson.

The Roar Before the 24 continues with the fifth practice session at 7:00pm local time, while qualifying for GTLM and DPi takes place on Sunday.
