As Michelin prepares to bid farewell to MotoGP after a decade as official tyre supplier, a new six-part docuseries titled “Racing on Trust – A decade of Michelin in MotoGP” offers an unfiltered look back at eleven years in the premier class through the eyes of its biggest legends and paddock figures, such as Valentino Rossi or Marc Marquez.
Next season, the iconic Michelin Bibendum will no longer pace the MotoGP paddock. Instead, the French manufacturer will head to WorldSBK, replacing Pirelli as the sole tyre provider, while the Italian brand takes over the premier class.
This switch marks the end of an eleven-year stint as MotoGP’s official supplier, a role Michelin held continuously since 2016. As the 2026 campaign draws to a close in a few weeks, the Clermont-Ferrand-based tyre manufacturer is releasing a dedicated docuseries featuring high-profile interviews, archival race footage, and unprecedented behind-the-scenes insights.
Six episodes to wrap up a decade in MotoGP
Designed to wrap up a decade in the discipline, “Racing on Trust – A decade of Michelin in MotoGP” consists of six 10-minute episodes released every Thursday, running from October 8 to November 5. With the first two episodes already available, Episode 1: 2016: The Comeback and Episode 2: Regain Trust, the upcoming lineup features Episode 3: Listen to the Bike, Episode 4: Braking Point, Episode 5: New Era, and Episode 6: Final Sprint.
Far from being a purely technical breakdown reserved for tech aficionados, the project centres on personal accounts and sporting memories, injecting a strong human element into the story. Michelin gives a platform to the riders who were in the hot seat week in, week out, sharing their candid perspectives on the rubber that carried them through both their greatest victories and toughest setbacks.
The series delivers raw, unfiltered recollections of the Michelin era. It is candid enough that Jorge Martin does not hold back when discussing how tyre issues at the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix impacted his championship campaign. Failing to make his rubber work, the Spaniard crossed the line in a distant tenth, leaving Losail 21 points behind Francesco Bagnaia going into the season finale.
Alongside Martin, legends and current stars, including Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, Pecco Bagnaia, Fabio Quartararo, Johann Zarco, Cal Crutchlow, Jack Miller, and Loris Capirossi, weigh in on their experiences.
Key figures behind the scenes also share their views, including Ducati Corse’s Gigi Dall’Igna, LCR’s Lucio Cecchinello, Tech3’s Hervé Poncharal, and Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta. The narrative is further shaped by insights from prominent paddock journalists and commentators such as Michel Turco, Simon Patterson, Guido Meda, Manuel Pecino, and Sylvain Guintoli, with Turco conducting the core interviews for the series.
Conceived by Annalisa De Simone in a style inspired by Drive to Survive, as she put it, the series spans from Michelin’s 2016 return to Marc Marquez’s historic 2025 comeback. “Racing on Trust” paints a compelling, human portrait of a manufacturer embedded in one of the most exciting sports.
