The #36 of Alpine Endurance Team will start from pole position for the 6 Hours of Fuji, with the grid set by the fastest time across all practice sessions, following the cancellation of Qualifying.
Qualifying for the 6 Hours of Fuji has been called off because of due to poor weather conditions, with the starting grid for the race being determined by the combined results from all three practice sessions that took place on Friday and earlier Saturday morning.
It’s a first ever pole position for the A424 Alpine Hypercar, with Victor Martins’ lap of 1.40:694 from FP2 securing it.
The decision followed an early red flag in LMGT3 qualifying after Francois Heriau crashed the #21 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo at Turn 2. Heriau appeared to lose control after his car aquaplaned while exiting Turn 1, sending the Ferrari into the barrier on the right-hand side of the circuit. The French driver was able to climb out of the car unharmed.
Race control subsequently confirmed that the session would not restart and that qualifying had been cancelled because of the worsening conditions. As a result, the grid will be formed using the combined practice times.
