Marc Marquez left it until the final lap of the session to top the timesheets in the final San Marino MotoGP practice session at Misano.
The Aprilia riders had a firm grip on the practice session with just a few minutes remaining, as Marco Bezzecchi led the session ahead of team-mate Jorge Martin.
However, on his final lap of the session, Marquez showed his true pace and dislodged the Aprilia riders from top spot, with his 1:31.040s the fastest time of FP2.
Martin’s final lap saw him move ahead of Bezzecchi into second, with the Italian rider slotting into third at the chequered flag.
Two satellite Ducati riders rounded out the top five, with Franco Morbidelli fourth at the end of the session ahead of Alex Marquez. Raul Fernandez finished narrowly behind the pair, as Fabio Di Giannantonio took seventh.
Francesco Bagnaia finished eighth, as Fabio Quartararo showed pace in his final laps that was only enough for ninth on the Yamaha. Pedro Acosta completed the top 10 after his best time was 0.010s better than Fermin Aldeguer’s in 11th.
Johann Zarco was 12th at the flag ahead of Joan Mir in 13th and Pol Espargaro – who continues to stand in for Maverick Vinales – in 14th. Diogo Moreira and Enea Bastianini were the final riders within a second of Marquez’s best time in 15th and 16th respectively.
Brad Binder ended the session in 17th, while Luca Marini was the sole crasher of the 30-minute session and took 18th. Toprak Razgatlioglu was 19th over Pramac Yamaha team-mate Jack Miller in 20th, with Alex Rins completing the standings in 21st.
