Yamaha has confirmed that Jack Miller will join its WorldSBK project as a factory rider on a two-year deal.
After 11 years in the grand prix paddock, Miller will make the swap to WorldSBK for the 2027 and 2028 seasons while continuing his partnership with Yamaha.
With four wins and 23 podiums in MotoGP, the Australian is set to bring a wealth of experience, as well as development to the YZF-R1 project.
The 31-year-old replaces Xavi Vierge, after the Spaniard earlier announced his exit from Yamaha.
“I am really excited to announce that I’m heading over to WorldSBK together with Yamaha, extending our partnership together,” Miller said.
“I have really enjoyed working with the brand these past few years in MotoGP and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to see what we can do on the R1.
“I’ve had a small taste of the bike at Suzuka the last couple of years, and while the WorldSBK-spec bike is a bit different I am really looking forward to this next chapter in my career and hopefully we can do something really strong over there.”
Yamaha Motor Europe Road Racing Sporting Manager, Niccolo Canepa added: “We are hugely excited to welcome Jack Miller to Yamaha’s WorldSBK project in 2027, and personally I am very happy to have him join our team.
“The opportunity to bring a rider of his experience and talent into our official team was too good to miss, and we are already looking forward to the first tests. His Grand Prix experience, particularly his knowledge of Michelin tyres, will be extremely valuable for us.
