Colin Braun will be joining Dragonspeed's LMP2 ranks for the 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Braun, who spent the 2019 season partnering Jon Bennett behind the wheel of CORE Autosport's Nissan DPi, will be joining the previously confirmed Ben Hanley and Henrik Hedman aboard the team's ORECA 07-Gibson in Florida. The 31-year-old has previously experience aboard the LMP2 chassis, as he took the CORE Autosport ORECA to title contention during the 2018 season, finishing three points off the title in second place.

Elton Julian, Dragonspeed's team principal, welcomed Braun to the team, also suggesting the American could also see action in the team's European programme, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“It’s a real pleasure to welcome Colin to the team,” Julian said. “As one of our toughest rivals from the LMPC days, it’s great to have him on our side. He’s a proven winner who quietly gets the job done every time, and we look forward to his technical input as well.

“We can run a Silver-ranked third driver in IMSA after the Rolex, but are looking at the possibility of having Colin in the 10-Star car for some of our European races, including Le Mans.”

Braun himself added: “I’m super excited to join Henrik and Ben at DragonSpeed. I’ve known Elton for a long time now and have enormous respect for the team he’s built.

“I’m also looking forward to the fun of driving an LMP2 again at Daytona. I won the class there in 2018 and DragonSpeed won in 2019, so we know our goal for 2020.”

A fourth driver for the season-opening endurance classic in Florida is expected to be announced at a later date.
