Panasonic Jaguar Racing team boss James Barclay has said that the British marque is not underestimating the challenge of Season 6.

Jaguar Racing joined Formula E in its third season and has experienced continual improvement year on year, taking points in its debut season before taking its maiden pole position and podium in Season 4.

In Season 5, the British marque secured its most successful campaign to date by taking its maiden Formula E victory while Mitch Evans mounted a championship challenge that lasted until the final race of the campaign in New York.

Retaining Evans for a fourth season and signing Formula E rookie James Calado to partner the Kiwi, Jaguar will also utilise a brand-new powertrain for the 2019/20 season, holding high hopes to maintain its current upward trajectory.

With Season 6 marking Formula E’s most competitive season to date with the arrival of Mercedes EQ and Porsche, Barclay has insisted that the outfit is not underestimating the challenge that it faces amidst its high ambition:

"Our Season 6 objective is to continue to make progress and to compete for more points, podiums and wins," he said ahead of the Diriyah E-Prix.

"With Mitch and James, we can look to build on the success of last season and push for more on-track success.

"We do not underestimate the task, we are up against the most competitive driver and team line up in the championship’s history but also in terms of current motorsport.

"As we head to Saudi Arabia, we are looking forward to the challenge and will be working hard to deliver a positive start to the season and to kick off our campaign well."

The sixth season of Formula E will commence with a double-header weekend in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on November 22 and 23, with this kicking-off what will be the championship’s longest competition to date.
