Nissan e.dams unveils striking new livery for Season 6

Nissan e.dams has unveiled a striking new livery for its IM02 Formula E car ahead of the all-electric single-seater series' sixth season.

For Season 6, the Franco-Japanese outfit will sport a red, black and white livery that has been inspired by a kimono garment – a symbol of longevity and good fortune in Japanese culture.

"As we approach the beginning of our second season of Formula E competition, our design team proposed a new look, one that celebrates our Japanese heritage and vibrant technology DNA," said Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan's senior vice president for global design.

"We used our iconic Nissan racing red, black and white colors layered diagonally in a kimono pattern, which creates a dynamic and powerful impression."

Nissan joined Formula E for the start of its Gen2 era last season and experienced a competitive debut campaign, utilising a unique twin-motor design in its powertrain to take fourth in the Teams' Championship.

With this twin-motor design getting outlawed for Season 6, Nissan e.dams has reverted to a single MGU layout, with its car for the coming campaign joining the rest of the Formula E field in pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit last week.

Maintaining its driver lineup of Sebastien Buemi and Oliver Rowland, Nissan completed 298 laps over the week – the eighth-most in this season's 12-team grid – while also setting the sixth and ninth-fastest lap times of the week overall.

"The second season is sometimes harder than the first," said Michael Carcamo, Nissan's global motorsports director.

"With a major change to a single-motor solution, we had plenty to do in the off-season. We'll use everything we learned from season five to improve our package, with an even greater emphasis on battery and energy management."

Formula E's 2019/20 season will commence on November 22 and 23 with a double-header event in Ad Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.
