Maximilian Gunther set the fastest time in the morning session of the opening day of Formula E pre-season testing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia.
The BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver, who joins the German marque following one season with GEOX Dragon, set a best time of a 1m 15.926s around the 4.005km-long circuit to top the three-hour session.
Antonio Felix da Costa emerged as the German racer's nearest challenger, with the Portuguese driver fronting a 2-3 result for DS Techeetah, trailing Gunther by 0.106s while reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne trailed by a further 0.130s.
Oliver Rowland edged ahead of Nissan e.dams team-mate Sebastien Buemi in what was a 4-5 result for the Franco-Japanese squad while Season 3 champion Lucas di Grassi ended the morning with the sixth-fastest time for Audi.
Mahindra Racing's Pascal Wehrlein set the seventh-fastest lap of the opening session for Mahindra Racing, trailing pacesetter Gunther by 0.459s while debutant Nico Mueller was eighth for GEOX Dragon.
Jaguar Racing's Mitch Evans secured the ninth fastest time of the session while team-mate James Calado caused the first of two red flags in the morning after crashing his I-TYPE 4 at the half-way mark.
Edoardo Mortara completed the top 10 for the newly rebranded Venturi Racing, emerging as the fastest driver using Mercedes' Silver Arrow 01 powertrain.
Outside of the top 10, Andre Lotterer emerged as the fastest Porsche driver, with team-mate Neel Jani causing a red flag in the final 30-minutes of the session with the pair taking 12th and 19th. Mercedes drivers Stoffel Vandoorne and Nyck de Vries were 20th and 23rd.
Oliver Turvey completed the timesheets in 24th after failing to complete any running for NIO.
