MotoGP has announced that Motorland Aragon will host a race in 2027, before dropping to a reserve circuit between 2028 and 2031.
A renewal between MotoGP chiefs and the Aragon circuit was signed in Zaragoza, which will keep the Aragon Grand Prix on the calendar for the next MotoGP season.
Although the circuit is set to drop off the calendar after the 2027 season, it has been given status as an official reserve circuit between 2028 and 2031.
This means that should any of the planned MotoGP races not go ahead, Aragon would be the first track to step in and host a race.
“MotorLand Aragon has been an important partner for MotoGP for almost two decades, playing a key role in the championship’s presence in Spain,” said CEO of MotoGP SEG Carmelo Ezpeleta in a press release.
“The renewal for 2027 reflects both the strength of that partnership and the value the event brings to the region.
“We are very pleased to continue working together and to keep Aragon as part of the MotoGP family in the years ahead as a reserve circuit.”
Aragon’s regional president, Jorge Azcon, added: “We are pleased to confirm that the Aragon Grand Prix will return next year. Motorcycles will once again roar around the Alcañiz circuit in 2027.
“MotorLand will also continue to be linked to MotoGP between 2028 and 2031 as a reserve venue.”
