Nasr clears away in opening phase of Petit Le Mans

Felipe Nasr leads Motul Petit Le Mans in the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac, opening up an impressive gap to rivals in the first laps of the race

The Brazilian started the race from pole position and quicky opened pulled clear of the #7 Team Penske Acura of Ricky Taylor, who then dropped out of the podium slots as he was passed by both the #5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac of Filipe Albuquerque and team-mate Dane Cameron in the #6 Acura.

Jon Bennett had a major scare in the #54 CORE Autosport Nissan DPi, spinning as he came over the crest on approach to the final corner. The veteran was able to continue without damaging the car.

In GTLM, James Calado retains the lead in class from the start, with the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GTE leading the #911 Porsche 911 RSR of Nick Tandy, who had made impressive progress in the opening stint. Richard Westbrook sits third in the #67 Ford ahead of the championship leading #912 of Laurens Vanthoor.

GTD is still being led by the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Corey Lewis, while Jeff Westphal has moved up into second in the #63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3, with Ben Keating third in the #33 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3.
