VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio topped both MotoGP practice sessions on Friday for the VR46 Racing Team at the Italian Grand Prix.
After setting the pace on Friday morning, Di Giannantonio continued his form in the afternoon as he set a 1:44.808s lap time and topped the timesheets.
Francesco Bagnaia found himself inside the top three in the afternoon as he ended the day in second place, and was 0.091 seconds behind Di Giannantonio.
It was Enea Bastianini who completed an all-Italian top three in the second practice session, as he ended the day in third on the KTM.
Franco Morbidelli finished the day in fourth place for VR46, with the Gresini Ducati of Fermin Aldeguer in fifth place.
Marc Marquez secured a spot in Q2 on his return from injury as he ended up in sixth, with the championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi, in seventh.
Jorge Martin made his way into Q2 in the latter moments of the session as he was in eighth, with Alex Rins in ninth place.
Rounding out the Q2 positions on Friday afternoon was the MotoGP rookie, Diogo Moreira, who ended afternoon practice in tenth place.
The Trackhouse riders of Ai Ogura and Raul Fernandez will go through Q1 after finishing Friday in 11th and 12th places.
Pedro Acosta will have to fight for a Q2 place on Saturday after ending the opening day in 13th, with Maverick Vinales just behind in 14th.
Joan Mir was in 15th, with the Yamaha riders of Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo in 16th and 17th places.
Brad Binder ended the opening day in 18th, with Luca Marini and Toprak Razgatlioglu in 19th and 20th.
It was the replacement riders of Michele Pirro and Cal Crutchlow at the rear of the field in 21st and 22nd places for Gresini and LCR Honda.
