Pedro Acosta leads the way in second Barcelona MotoGP practice

KTM rider Pedro Acosta ended Friday’s work on top of the timesheets after Barcelona’s second MotoGP practice session.

The Spaniard posted a 1.38.710s aboard the RC16, followed by first practice table topper Alex Marquez in second.

The top five positions were separated by only 0.079s, with Acosta’s team-mate Brad Binder ending the day in third place.

Raul Fernandez secured fourth spot, lapping 0.001s quicker than Honda’s Johann Zarco, with the Frenchman finishing as the top Honda rider.

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished as the top Ducati rider in sixth, followed by championship leader Marco Bezzecchi and Joan Mir.

Yamaha riders Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo secured ninth and 10th, respectively, meaning all manufacturers had two riders qualifying straight to Q2 on Saturday.

Enea Bastianini narrowly missed out after finishing 11th, lapping quicker than factory Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia and recent podium finisher Ai Ogura.

Diogo Moreira posted the 14th fastest time, ahead of VR46’s Franco Morbidelli and Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer.

Jorge Martin finished down in 17th place for factory Aprilia, lapping quicker than Luca Marini and Toprak Razgatlioglu.

Maverick Vinales, on his return, was 1.0s off the pace, lapping quicker than Alex Rins and Augusto Fernandez.
