Gresini’s Alex Marquez topped the timesheets in the opening MotoGP practice session in Barcelona.

The Spaniard, who won the race back in 2025, posted a 1.39.950s, a lap over three tenths clear of the rest of the field.

Recent Le Mans winner Jorge Martin finished second despite a crash at Turn 12 halfway through the session.

Fabio Di Giannantonio, Pedro Acosta and championship leader Marco Bezzecchi followed to finish third, fourth, and fifth respectively.

Enea Bastianini secured sixth and finished as the second lead KTM rider, closely followed by Fermin Aldeguer and Pramac Yamaha rider Jack Miller.

Franco Morbidelli claimed ninth for VR46, with LCR Honda duo Johann Zarco and Diogo Moreira lapping 10th and 11th fastest.

Brad Binder finished the opening session in 12th, besting Honda’s Luca Marini, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez.

Joan Mir and Francesco Bagnaia followed in 16th and 17th, followed by Ai Ogura, Maverick Vinales on his return.

Yamaha’s test rider Augusto Fernandez lapped faster than factory rider Alex Rins and MotoGP rookie Toprak Razgatklioglu, who closed out proceedings.
