Fabio Di Giannantonio secures second MotoGP pole in Brazil

VR46 Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio recorded the fastest time in the first Jerez MotoGP practice session.

The Italian was the sole rider to lap in the 1.36s barrier, recording a 1.36.954s on one of his final runs.

It was a double delight for the VR46 squad as Franco Morbidelli posted the second fastest time, followed by Gresini’s Alex Marquez.

MotoGP championship leader Marco Bezzecchi finished Friday’s first session in fourth, ahead of Marc Marquez and Trackhouse rider Raul Fernandez.

Jack Miller placed his Yamaha V4 in seventh, followed by KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Honda’s Johann Zarco, who lapped a tenth adrift.

Jorge Martin and Aprilia claimed 10th, followed by the second factory Ducati and 2024 title challenger, Francesco Bagnaia.

Brad Binder, Diogo Moreira and Joan Mir followed, lapping a time separated by only 0.027s.

Toprak Razgatlioglu impressed to place himself 15th on the timesheets. ahead of Fermin Aldeguer, Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini.

Ai Ogura finished down in 19th, though occupying the tail end places were factory Yamaha duo Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins.

Aprilia and Yamaha test riders Lorenzo Savadori and Augusto Fernandez rounded off proceedings.
