Ducati’s Nicolo Bulega smashed the lap record en route to securing pole position in the Assen WorldSBK Superpole.

The championship leader posted a rapid time of 1.32.144s to continue his dominance in the third round of the season.

Marc VDS rider Sam Lowes claimed second to split the two factory Ducati riders, with Iker Lecuona completing an all-Ducati front row.

BMW rider Danilo Petrucci lapped 0.777s slower than Bulega, yet qualified as the lead non-Ducati in fourth.

Behind the Italian is Yamaha’s Xavi Vierge and Bimota’s Alex Lowes, making it three different manufacturers occupying the second row by half a tenth of a second.

Two-time champion Alvaro Bautista qualified in seventh, closely followed by Andrea Locatelli and Lorenzo Baldassarri.

Remy Gardner rounded up the top 10 on the GRT Yamaha, followed by Tommy Bridewell and Barni’s Yari Montella.

WorldSBK rookie Miguel Oliveira could only muster 13th place on the grid, as Tarran Mackenzie and Alberto Surra lapped a tenth behind.

Garrett Gerloff and Axel Bassani followed to qualify 16th and 17th, respectively, ahead of Honda test rider Jonathan Rea.

Bahattin Sofuoglu set a time to finish 19th, followed by Stefano Manzi, Mattia Rato and Twan Smits.
