Marc Marquez appeared undeterred after a scary crash in FP1 as he recorded the fastest time in the second US MotoGP practice session.

Nine-time World Champion Marquez recovered from a fast crash at Turn 10 in the morning, and continued his imperious form around the COTA circuit where he has won seven times before.

The pre-weekend favourite delivered in a crash-heavy practice session, with his time of 2:00.927 enough to top the timesheets.

Ai Ogura was the closest challenger to Marquez, 0.053s off the Ducati rider’s best lap time, while Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the top three.

Pedro Acosta finished sixth after topping the morning session ahead of Jorge Martin in seventh and Francesco Bagnaia in eighth.

Luca Marini consistently set fast lap times for Honda and took ninth, while Enea Bastianini claimed the final automatic Q2 spot in 10th.

Factory Honda rider Joan Mir narrowly missed out in 11th, as Fermin Aldeguer took 12th.

Raul Fernandez was the sole RS-GP to miss out on the top 10 in 13th, while LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco was 14th.

Fabio Quartararo was top Yamaha in 15th, edging out Pramac’s Jack Miller in 16th.

Diogo Moreira led fellow rookie Toprak Razgatlioglu, with the pair taking 17th and 18th respectively ahead of the struggling KTM of Brad Binder.

Franco Morbidelli was another crasher and finished 20th, as Alex Rins rounded out the standings in 21st.

Maverick Vinales withdrew from the weekend’s action as he will undergo a minor procedure to treat a shoulder problem.
