Scott Dixon ‘expected more’ from Will Power after Mid-Ohio clash

Reigning series champion Scott Dixon has said he 'expected more' from Team Penske's Will Power after the pair made contact during the Honda Indy 200.

After the opening round of pitstops, Dixon had closed down Power on his new softer compound red Firestone tyres and attempted a pass into Turn 4 on Lap 32.

Dixon tried to get the switch back into the hill of Turn 5, but Power defended vigorously and the pair made wheel-to-wheel contact.

The Chip Ganassi driver swiftly chased the 2014 series champion once more while his tyres were still fresh enough, but again Power defended hard.

Eventually, Dixon got past the Australian two laps later and was able to pull a gap and go on to win his second race of the season.

Describing the battle afterward, Dixon said: "Honestly, from where I sat, he didn't really give me any room, which I was kind of disappointed, especially on the approach.

"When you're coming in there at 185 miles an hour and he was giving me kind of a half a car width into (Turn) 4, I expected a little bit more from him on that.

"And then obviously when I got around him in 5 and then he just drove me off, obviously it's good for a spectator, but for me, it was not so good.

"I knew we were going to get him, it's just — it added like another five- or six-second delay to what I had. But Will is going to drive tough. He's racing for wins right now, and he's a hell of a competitor, and as we've seen, the guy is super fast.

"But I probably would have expected a little bit more from him on those situations."
