KTM rider Pedro Acosta finished close behind in fifth, followed by the factory Ducati duo Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia.
Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez claimed eighth and ninth, respectively, as Honda’s Luca Marini rounded off the top 10.
Raul Fernandez and Honda’s Joan Mir finished under 0.010s behind Marini, before stretching a couple tenth gap over lead Yamaha rider Alex Rins.
Johann Zarco posted a lap a second down in 14th, posting identical times with Tech3 rider Enea Bastianini.
Moto2 champion Diogo Moreira kicked off his premier class career with a lap to place him 16th fastest, closely followed by Brad Binder, Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales.
The final two positions were occupied by Pramac duo Jack Miller and three-time WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu, with the latter beginning his MotoGP career.
Ducati test rider Michele Pirro finished 22nd as he stepped in for the injured Fermin Aldeguer.
