IMSA has announced that the 2019 edition of the Weathertech Night of Champions will be held on Sunday, October 13th at the Chateau Élan Resort & Winery in Braselton, Georgia.
The location will host the event for the fourth year in a row and is located minutes away from Road Atalanta, which will host the season-closing Motul Petit Le Mans the day before.
The event, which is set to be held less than 24 hours after the curtain closes on the 2019 IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship, will honour the team, driver and constructor champions in all four classes of the championship: DPi, LMP2, GTLM and GTD. It will also honours winners in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup and WeatherTech Sprint Cup, which are both part of the Weathertech Sportscar Championship.
Finally, the event will also be hosting the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Awards on the Friday before like it has since 2011, honouring the champions of IMSA's feeder series, which closes just hours before with the FOX Factory 120.
“The WeatherTech Night of Champions is annually one of the most important dates on our calendar,” said IMSA CEO Ed Bennett.
“We had a great deal of positive feedback last year by holding the event on Sunday, and we are looking forward to another special event this October. This year’s championships appear to be going down to the last lap.
“This event will allow everyone the chance to see that raw emotion from the champions that have put so much time and effort into their title.”
The season-closing weekend also will include season finales for the Michelin Pilot Challenge, IMSA Prototype Challenge and Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama.
