BMW Motorrad’s newest pairing Miguel Oliveira and Danilo Petrucci reveal their ambitions ahead of the 2026 WorldSBK campaign.
The Bavarian manufacturer announced an all-new roster for 2026, with three-time WorldSBK champion Toprak Razgatlioglu departing for MotoGP, while Michael van der Mark moved into a test role and joined BMW’s endurance outfit.
Oliveira arrives in a straight swap with Razgatlioglu after Pramac Yamaha relieved him from his duties after one year into an agreed two-year contract.
The 31-year-old brings a wealth of experience from the premier class, after winning five races and representing KTM, Aprilia and Yamaha across a seven-year stint.
“I’m excited for sure. I don’t know really what to expect,” said Oliveira via WorldSBK.
“I know it‘s going to be a difficult, competitive environment throughout the whole grid.
“So my goal is to be up to that challenge and be as ready as I can to fight for top positions and make my adaptation as fast as possible, especially to have fun and to make the team enjoy the races.”
BMW’s first official signing was Danilo Petrucci, who joined the manufacturer after a three-year stint with Barni Spark Racing, riding the Ducati Panigale.
Petrucci has finished fifth in each of his last two WorldSBK seasons, although he was third in the championship at the time of his signing before missing the final two rounds through injury.
With three wins and 20 podiums to his name in the series, Petrucci will represent a factory team for the first time since racing for Ducati in MotoGP in 2019.
“I’m so happy and proud to join the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team,” shared the Italian.
“It’s the team that won the last Championships and I’m so proud to be part of it. I can’t wait to race with this bike.
“We did a few tests, and in rainy conditions the situation is really good. We need to spend more time in the dry because we didn’t have much time in such conditions yet.
“There are a lot of expectations, but mainly I want to enjoy. I don’t have any particular result in mind. I just want to be as fast as I can and improve my results from last season.”
