Audi must ‘up the ante’ in Bern – Lucas di Grassi

Lucas di Grassi believes that Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler must "up the ante" at this weekend's Bern E-Prix as both the driver and German marque attempt to bolster their position in the Season 5 title fight.

Di Grassi secured his second victory of the season in Berlin and currently sits in second place in the Drivers' Championship, six points adrift of DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne who currently leads.

Heading to Switzerland with fond memories after winning the inaugural Zurich E-Prix in Season 4, the Brazilian returns to the nation with fond memories that he aims to rekindle although securing a large haul of points is the former champion's main target:

"Berlin was a very special day for all of us. Now we need to take the momentum of success with us to Bern and up the ante there," said di Grassi.

"That we’re in the thick of the title race at this stage of the season is the result of all of the hard work done by the entire team.

"Switzerland is a good venue for us, because we won there last year. That’s our aim again – and if we shouldn’t achieve it, we want to at least take home as many points as possible."

With the Bern E-Prix being a new addition to the Season 5 calendar after the Swiss capital replaced Zurich, Audi Team Principal Allan McNish highlighted the track as a "true challenge," however, expressed his confidence in Audi's ability to maintain its positive momentum from Berlin:

"The gaps in the drivers’ and teams’ championships are very small," he said. "Our whole squad is ready and fully focused on taking the momentum from Berlin to the next race.

"The new circuit poses a true challenge. The track’s characteristics are totally different to any of the others on the calendar. Especially the steep up-downhill sections which will be really good to watch.

"We’re all looking forward to our next visit to Switzerland – the event last year was one of the season’s highlights, not only thanks to Lucas’ victory.”

The Bern E-Prix marks the final round of Formula E's European leg of Season 5 and will take place on June 22 at 18:04 local time.
