Danilo Petrucci has moved to calm talks of him receiving team orders to help Ducati team-mate Andrea Dovizioso's championship tilt, following his post-Mugello statement of "now we have to win the championship with Andrea."

Speaking in the pre-event press conference for the upcoming Catalan Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, Petrucci clarified the comments he made in the heat of the moment following his first ever MotoGP victory at the Italian circuit.

Petrucci said that there were no team orders within the factory Ducati squad, and that he would be allowed to fight for victories and podiums against Dovizioso.

He admitted however that he has the "potential" to help Dovizioso if he was running ahead of him, saying he was "relaxed" about the possibility of giving up possible points if it helped him in the title battle against Honda's Marc Marquez.

"I want to put in another level of helping each other," said Petrucci.

"For sure we don’t have team orders and we speak a lot about this, if I have the chance to win I'll try but I can potentially give Andrea help because I'm a little more relaxed and this was the meaning of helping him.

"For sure its a case of being there to fight for the podium and being in the battle this weekend will be very important."

Petrucci currently sits fourth in the championship standings heading into the second Spanish round of the 2019 season following his Mugello win, just 21 points in-arrears of Dovizioso and 33 behind leader Marquez after six rounds.
