Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly have dismissed rumours over their respective futures after it was claimed Gasly could lose his seat to the Renault driver.
It was reported by Italian media that Red Bull were making contact with Hulkenberg about him replacing Gasly at the team, as the Frenchman's results hadn't matched their expectations.
When asked about the rumours on Thursday in Canada, Hulkenberg dismissed it as "fake news".
"I think I heard it came from the Italian side," he said. "It was made up. It’s basically fake news."
Gasly meanwhile hit out at the claims, calling them "bulls**t" and "bad journalism" and insists he has the full support of the team and advisor Helmut Marko.
"Well we [Marko] call each other every week, so after each race, we're on the phone together.
"He's been really supportive and he knows everything that happens inside the team. I think he has been really good so far, yeah.
"Honestly I don't want to waste any time with this kind of bulls**t. I have more important things to take care of like my job, my family, my friends. For me, bulls**t like this is just bad journalism. I don't want to comment any more about this."
Gasly currently sits sixth in the standings with 32 points – 46 less than team-mate Max Verstappen in fourth – but secured his best result of the season so far with fifth in Monaco.
