Danilo Petrucci believes that he will be in for a tricky Italian grand prix tomorrow because of the flu the Italian has suffered with throughout the weekend.
The factory Ducati man has been competitive despite not being “fully fit”, having set the pace in FP3 before qualifying third for the race.
With even hotter temperatures expected for the race tomorrow, Petrucci reckons he will suffer even further compared to the weekends running so far.
“For tomorrow it will be tough as I am not fully fit, I have a cold and flu and am not so powerful,” said Petrucci.
“But I will try everything for the race to try and be back here (in parc ferme) tomorrow too.”
Petrucci, who scored a podium at Mugello two years ago when riding for Ducati satillite Pramac Racing, also believes that hotter track temperatures in qualifying relative to the cooler conditions seen in the earlier FP3 session harmed his chances of securing a home pole position.
“It was very difficult because this morning (in FP3) the laptime was very good , the situation was very good with cooler asphalt, so this afternoon my target was a 45.8,” explained Petrucci.
“I reached the target the problem is that the other two were just a little bit faster, anyway the target was the first row and we achieved that.”
