Adrian Fernandez produced a masterclass to fend off all the competition to take his first-ever Moto3 victory in the season finale in Valencia.

The Leopard Racing duo of Fernandez and David Almansa regained the top two positions by Turn 3 after briefly losing them at the start to Quiles.

Fernandez had a minor setback at Turn 12 after making a minor mistake, allowing his team-mate Almansa and Maximo Quiles to overtake with ease.

Fernandez quickly regained second place, but he then pulled off an overly aggressive move on Almansa in the final corner, demoting him to eighth.

Further back, Joel Kelso and Scott Ogden crashed out of proceedings, ending the year in the gravel traps.

Despite no overtakes among the lead trio over the next few laps, Almansa fought his way up to fourth and caught the leaders.

The Spaniard made a minor unforced error at Turn 1, undoing all his hard work as he rejoined in seventh place.

He replicated the same mistake three and five laps later, but lost no further positions on each occasion as he tried chasing the lead group.

Taiyo Furusato entered the fight as the Japanese rider took second from Quiles on Lap 13, though the pair swapped positions again on Lap 15.

Since taking the lead, he held his position comfortably and dictated the pace throughout, never coming under threat.

Fernandez crossed the line to claim his first-ever victory in grand prix racing, edging out Furusato and Alvaro Carpe to the line. But due to the penalties for track limits, Carpe claimed second over Furusato.

Guido Pini finished fourth after starting in 17th place, edging out Quiles, Angel Piqueras and Luca Lunetta.

The aggressive move by Fernandez early on proved decisive for team-mate Almansa, who finished eighth.

Marco Morelli claimed ninth place, ahead of stand-in rider Jesus Rios, who rounded off the top 10.

Valentin Perrone finished in 11th, closely followed by Stefano Nepa, finishing within a tenth of a second.

Casey O’Gorman impressed once again to finish in 13th spot, defeating Hakim Danish and Adrian Cruces on the line as the trio closed out the final three-point scoring positions.
