Renault make organisational changes ahead of F1 2021 shake-up

Renault Sport Racing has confirmed managerial changes within the company's organisational structure will take place with the shake-up of Formula 1 in 2021 in mind.

The French manufacturer returned to F1 in 2016 after taking over the former Lotus outfit and set out a five-year plan to return the team to the top of the championship.

With sweeping changes set to overhaul the structure of F1 involving prize money, possible cost caps and an overhaul of the technical regulations, Renault has made changes within its managerial hierarchy in order to help achieve those goals.

At the team's engine department in Viry-Châtillon, two new positions have been made with Christophe Mary named as Director of Engineering and he will arrive at the team on August 1.

Stéphane Rodriguez has been appointed Project and Purchasing Director within the Technical Department. Both will report to the Engine Technical Director, Rémi Taffin.

In Enstone, Matt Harman who arrived from Mercedes in 2018 will be moved up from his current role as Deputy Chief Designer into of Engineering Director – reporting directly to Chassis Technical Director, Nick Chester.

Renault has said the reinforcements are designed to allow Taffin and Chester to focus more on the performance of both the engine and chassis while overseeing all technical programs with the stakeholders.

Renault currently lies seventh in the Constructors' Championship after a tough start to its 2019 campaign.
