Aston Martin Racing's drivers are confident in their chances in wet conditions during the TOTAL Six Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
The two Aston Martin Vantage AMRs, which start second and fourth in GTE Pro, have shown strong pace all week and appear particularly strong in wet conditions. With rain looking more than likely, drivers are confident of the car's chances during the race.
"Temps are gonna be very low. But I personally feel quite comfortable with it," Alex Lynn told Motorsport Week. "I think the car works really well in the cold conditions. I think probably a little bit better than some of our rivals. So if we have a clean start to the race, I think our plan is to keep our heads down and stay out of trouble."
"I think our car quite likes the cold conditions, so we’re not too worried, actually, in comparison to some of our rivals, so genuinely I think we’re quite excited about what’s gonna happen in the next few hours."
Lynn's team-mate Maxime Martin, who will be starting the #97 car, expressed similar hopes.
"I think it’s not too bad for us, we have really good pace in the wet, tires are working well for us, so it’s looking good, but in the wet it’s more risky, more potential for mistakes and problems. But yeah, we are well prepared and shouldn’t do too bad."
Nicki Thiim, who will be starting fourth in the #95 Vantage alongside compatriot Marco Sorensen, said: "It’s no secret that we struggle in the dry with the tires, but in the rain we have a rocket ship, a really really nice car, which works really well."
"It works the tires well, I think that’s where the point is. The Aston’s really getting the Michelin tires to work good in the conditions. So yeah, let’s see where we end up. We’re pretty sure we’re gonna be strong on pace."
