Celestino Vietti dominated at Misano as he cruised to a commanding Moto2 victory on home soil.

He fended off a late charge from Barry Baltus, who discovered rapid late-race pace, as Daniel Holgado rounded off the podium.

Vietti slotted past polesitter Holgado to take the holeshot at Turn 1, with Diogo Moreira and Manuel Gonzalez close behind.

The Italian rider out front formed a 0.3s advantage over Holgado by the end of Lap 1, before extending further to 0.5s after the second lap.

The CFMoto rider came under immediate pressure from Moreira and Gonzalez, but responded by closing the gap to Vietti out front.

Both Vietti and Holgado steered clear of the two championship protagonists, Moreira and Gonzalez, establishing a 2.5s advantage at the halfway mark.

Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP rider Gonzalez formed a move at Turn 3 on Lap 11, but Moreira forged his way back through into Turn 4.

The Brazalian rider dropped to fifth at Turn 11, allowing the quicker Gonzalez and Barry Baltus to progress through.

Baltus snatched the final podium spot from Gonzalez on Lap 13, but the gap to Holgado increased to 3.1s.

Vietti controlled the race from the front, building a 1.3-second lead by Lap 15, and it looked like no one could match his pace.

But Baltus stepped up with rapid late-race pace, which saw him catch and pass Holgado with five laps to go, setting a string of fast laps in the process.

The Belgian star tried to catchup to Vietti, but time ran out as the Italian secured back-to-back Misano race victories.

Holgado finished third for CFMoto as he crossed the line three seconds adrift of the lead duo.

Moreira controlled to finish fourth as Senna Agius fended off his team-mate Gonzalez in the closing stages.

Aron Canet endured a quiet race to finish seventh, followed by reigning Moto3 champion David Alonso.

Tony Arbolino and Izan Guevara secured ninth and 10th place for Blu Cru Pramac Yamaha, respectively.

Alberto Arenas took 11th for Gresini, followed by Munoz and Ivan Ortola who finished within close range.

Ayumu Sasaki and Alonso Lopez secured the final two points as both finished the 14th and 15th place in the final moments.
