LCR Honda has officially announced three-time Moto2 race winner Diogo Moreira will join the team for the 2026 MotoGP season.
The 21-year-old agreed to a multi-year deal with the Japanese marque and will receive full factory support in his first season.
Making his World Championship debut in Moto3 in 2022, Moreira achieved one win, three podiums, and two pole positions across 39 races.
Moving up to the Moto2 class, the Brazilian picked up the Rookie of the Year award in 2024 after scoring a podium in Barcelona.
A strong sophomore season currently sees him second in the 2025 standings, nine points behind championship leader Manuel Gonzalez.
Moreira looks set to be the sole rookie on the 2026 grid and joins top-performing Honda rider Johann Zarco, replacing the outgoing Somkiat Chantra.
“Joining the MotoGP World Championship with Honda LCR is a dream come true,” Moreira said in a team statement.
“I want to thank Honda and the team for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I’m excited to learn, to grow, and to fight for strong results at the top level of motorcycle racing.”
“We are very pleased to announce that Diogo Moreira is joining our team,” Lucio Cecchinello, Team Principal of LCR Honda, added.
“Without a doubt, Diogo possesses all the qualities to become one of the greats in MotoGP.
“He has undeniable talent, a deep passion for racing, and has proven his speed across all types of motorcycles and disciplines.
“On behalf of the entire LCR Team, I extend a warm welcome to Diogo and thank Honda HRC for entrusting us with this exciting project for 2026.”
