1996 World Champion Damon Hill is set to drive up the famous hill at Goodwood house during the Festival of Speed, in one of Michael Schumacher's former Formula 1 cars.

The festival's theme for 2019 is "Speed Kings – Motorsport's Record Breakers" which coincides with both the 25th anniversary of Schumacher's first World Championship in 1994 and his 50th birthday.

The German won his first title in the Benetton B194 against Hill in the Williams FW16 by a single point, the defining point of the title came with the infamous clash at the season-ending Australian Grand Prix in Adelaide.

The pair continued their rivalry into 1995, it became to a boiling point when both drivers collided even further in two races at Silverstone and Monza. Schumacher eventually went on to win his second title.

Schumacher still holds numerous records in F1 including the most championships (7), most wins (91), most podiums (155) and fastest laps (77).

Sabine Kehm, the spokesperson for the Schumacher family, said: "We are delighted that the Goodwood Festival of Speed has chosen to celebrate Michael’s career, in the year of his 50th birthday, and on the 25th anniversary of his first World Championship.

"It is especially fitting this year, as the event’s ‘Record Breakers’ theme perfectly encapsulates his incredible achievements, including records, many of which may never be broken.

"We hope the public enjoy the opportunity to see an assortment of his winning cars, and the many friends, rivals and team members, who are coming to Goodwood to support the occasion.

"We thank the Duke of Richmond and the Goodwood team for making Michael such an important feature of this year’s event."
