The NTT IndyCar series will see the return of the LED panels on the side of the cars for the 2019 season.
Early in the 2018 season, the panels had been removed from all of the cars in the early part of the season after the Grand Prix of Alabama, this was due to performance inconsistencies.
With a new supplier, MoTeC onboard utilising modified technology used on the cars in the IMSA series, the LED panels will remain on the roll hoops on the Dallara DW12 chassis.
The panels have been trialled during pre-season testing and will be fixed onto the cars in preparation for the opening round in St.Petersburg on March 10.
The new displays will continue to show such information as track position, pit stop times and when 'Push-to-pass' has been used. the AMR IndyCar Safety Team will now also be able to see if a car is still running or not on the side of the track and what gear it is in, should it need restarting.
"We know that fans at racetracks and watching from home appreciate the LED system that helps them keep track of how their favourite cars and drivers are performing," IndyCar President Jay Frye.
