AutoNation has returned to McLaren Racing as a partner for the team as they return to the Indianapolis 500 in 2019.

McLaren Racing is making a comeback to the famous Brickyard with Fernando Alonso as the Spaniard attempts to claim the final leg of Motorsports unofficial 'triple crown'.

The Spaniard recently added the Rolex Daytona 24 hour to his recent collection of victories in sportscar racing, as he prepares to take on the Indy 500 in May.

AutoNation did previously sponsor McLaren during their last attempt at the prestigious race in 2017. Alonso led 27 laps over the course of the race and was running inside the top 10 before retiring with engine failure on lap 179.

The American automotive retailer, which is the largest in the USA also has its name on other cars in the IndyCar field, but it is one of the main sponsors of the #60 Meyer Shank Racing entry of Jack Harvey.

McLaren Racing CEO, Zak Brown said: "It’s fantastic when a sponsor returns, and I’m delighted that AutoNation will be with McLaren again for our 2019 Indy 500 program.

"They were a superb partner in 2017 and we’re looking forward to building on our previous work together, at what will be a very special event for all of us."
