Alfa Romeo Racing driver Antonio Giovinazzi turned delivery driver as he dashed to the airport to collect a part to allow the team's shakedown to go ahead at the Fiorano Circuit on Thursday.
The Alfa Romeo team completed a shakedown of their new car on Valentine's Day sporting a special "love" themed livery, ahead of an official unveiling on Monday, which will take place at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona prior to the start of pre-season testing.
Italian rookie Giovinazzi played a key role in making sure the shakedown actually went ahead, by dashing to the local airport to collect a part needed to run the car, which was driven by team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.
"Giovinazzi made his way to the airport to retrieve the final part needed for the team to assemble the car and head out onto the track," the team confirmed.
Raikkonen managed a total of 33 laps during the session on what team principal Frederic Vasseur described as a "positive day".
"It was a positive day for us at Fiorano. We ran the 2019 car for the first time and were able to assess the progress we have made in our development ahead of the first tests in Barcelona next week," he said.
"The whole team is pushing to start the season with the best possible base. Our drivers and crew are motivated, and we look forward to heading into the championship and delivering a strong performance."
Raikkonen added: "We had a good session on track. The car felt good and I was able to get a first impression of the car we will be running this season. We will work on the last few details and head to Barcelona for two weeks of testing. I look forward to getting to know the car better there."
