IMSA has confirmed 35 entries for Round 7 of the 2025 schedule, a 160-minute sprint race at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) on 13 July.
The seventh race meeting on this year’s calendar marks the IMSA SportsCar Championship’s only time outside the United States of America, with a trip northbound into Canada’s CTMP.
Alike with last year’s running, the LMP2 (12 entries), GTD Pro (10), and GTD (13) categories will race together, with the GTP class having made just one appearance during the inaugural 2023 season campaign.
Last year’s winner and an LMP2 Le Mans winner last month, Tom Dillmann, returns in the #43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca 07 LMP2 to defend the honour with team-mate Jeremy Clarke.
Dillmann beat Felipe Fraga to the win by 0.658 seconds, and so the #74 Riley Oreca pairing of Fraga and Gar Robinson return with clear aims to secure a victory they were close to achieving last year.
CTMP will be a home race for a selection of LMP2 drivers, including Tower Motorsports’ John Farano, who shares the #8 Oreca with Renger van der Zande.
Tom Blomqvist will return with United Autosports, but in their other #2 Oreca, Michelin Pilot Challenge star and Canadian Phil Fayer will co-drive with Ben Hanley.
In the #73 Pratt Miller Motorsports Oreca, Canadian Chris Cumming will co-pilot the entrant with Pietro Fittipaldi.
GTD Pro drivers Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims won the race last year in the category, marking the first for the new Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Now, however, they seek to retain their championship lead gained at Watkins Glen.
Romain De Angelis defends his GTD class victory from 2024 for Heart of Racing with team-mate Casper Stevenson.
