After topping the timesheets in the morning session of Formula E's opening day of pre-season testing, BMW i Andretti Motorsport's Alexander Sims maintained his pace and form around the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia to remain at the top of the timesheets in the afternoon.

Sims, who set a 1m 17.575s lap in the morning session, improved on his time in the afternoon to lap the circuit in 1m 17.533s, finishing ahead of DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer who trailed the Briton by 0.101s.

Sims' team-mate, Antonio Felix da Costa, finished with the third fastest time in the session, 0.174s off the pace, failing to complete a second BMW 1-2 after the Portuguese racer secured the second fastest time earlier in the day.

Following da Costa were the Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler pair of Lucas di Grassi and Daniel Abt who secured the fourth and fifth fastest times respectively, 0.179s and 0.266s adrift of the pacesetter.

Jerome d'Ambrosio, who held the fastest time in the early stages of the second session of the day, finished as the highest placed Mahindra Racing driver in sixth while reigning Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne closely followed in seventh, 0.048s behind the Belgian.

Sebastien Buemi, who caused the only red flag of the afternoon session after stopping out on track, was eighth for Nissan e.dams and was followed by Dragon Racing's Jose Maria Lopez and Venturi's Felipe Massa, who completed the top 10.
