Mahindra Racing has confirmed an all-new driver line-up ahead of the start of the next generation of the FIA Formula E Championship, with Jerome d’Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein joining the Indian squad.

D’Ambrosio, 32, has raced in Formula E since the championship’s inception in 2014 and is one of few drivers to contest every race of the all-electric single seater series, racing for Jay Penske’s Dragon outfit from Season One to Season Four.

During this time, d’Ambrosio secured two victories as well as five further podiums, the most recent of which came at the 2018 Zurich E-Prix where the Belgian took the chequered flag in third place behind Lucas di Grassi and Sam Bird.

Having completed rigorous testing work with Mahindra in the team’s all-new Gen2 M5Electro throughout August and September, d’Ambrosio’s signing with the squad hands the driver a lifeline to continue to compete in Formula E after losing his seat at Dragon.

Joining d’Ambrosio will be former Manor and Sauber Formula 1 driver Pascal Wehrlein who joins Formula E as a rookie of the championship, racing for Mahindra with some experience after testing the team’s Season Five machinery last month.

Nick Heidfeld has taken up a role as test and reserve driver while Sam Dejonghe continues as simulator and development driver.
